Rentista residence
A two-year temporary residence for people with guaranteed unearned income, or who deposit a lump sum with a Costa Rican bank to generate it. Unlike the remote-worker status, it leads to permanent residence.
Who it is for. People with USD 2,500 a month of guaranteed income for at least two years, or who can deposit USD 60,000 with a bank.
Worth knowing. Processing has historically been slow; nine to twelve months from a complete submission is commonly reported.
